The parents are the only “agency” one can reasonably
presume to be genuinely interested in the wellbeing of the children. Therefore,
the sovereignty – if you will - in matters of education should be fully restored
to them. Not to the parliament, not to some ministry, nor to various committees
or “inspectors”. And this is one and the same with the freedom of enterprise
in the field of education (private schools, private entrepreneurs, teachers
and quality certifiers, freely competing with one another). As for the poor
– they could go to schools set up by charities or humanitarian foundations,
or by the church and monasteries.
